I stayed close to home this weekend. I ran Saturday and Sunday mornings (thanks Spring Glen Runnerz), continued digging and planting in the backyard (updated photos soon) and had a little fun. We went strawberry picking Saturday in the midday sun. This is the tail end of the season; the strawberries weren’t always visible, we had to lift their leaves and dig through some weeds in search of the red fruit. Most of them were small so when I’d stumble across a decent sized berry I’d yell to Bill, letting him know of my find. It was hot and dry and worth the sweat that trickled down the back of my neck into my t-shirt. There’s no comparing a fresh picked strawberry, blood-red through and through, to anything bought in the grocery store.
Sunday after my run, coffee and breakfast, some work done around the house and some relaxing done on the deck we walked along the beach. We covered the same territory as last week pointing out houses along the way we hadn’t noticed before. Everything is still green, gardens lovingly tended to and flowers in bloom. Nice end to a low-key and relaxing weekend.

Yum I could taste those juicy strawberries. You did get a lot of them, considering they are at tail end. Staying close to home ain’t all that bad. The beach is so beautiful and accessible. Lucky you!
I’ll be making strawberry bread tonight and eating them by the fistful! Thought of you at the end of our walk thru Silver Sands, it was around 4:00 and I told Bill that is the time you and Tom like going.
My face looks as red as a strawberry as I’m picking. It was hot but worth it! 🙂
ha ha 🙂
Loving it all, love your true stories, God Bless you both.
